Itinerary
Day 1 : Udaipur
Our journey begins in the romantic city of Udaipur, Rajasthan’s crown jewel. Surrounded by the Aravalli Hills and adorned with shimmering lakes, Udaipur instantly charms you with its regal beauty. Morning: Arrival and Check-In We arrived in Udaipur and checked into our hotel, greeted by warm Rajasthani hospitality and panoramic views of Lake Pichola. After a quick refresh, we stepped out to explore the heart of the city. Midday: City Palace Our first stop was the City Palace, a sprawling complex of courtyards, balconies, towers, and cupolas. Built over 400 years, it stands as a magnificent fusion of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture. The museum inside the palace showcases royal artifacts, intricate mirror work, and vintage photographs – a real step back in time. Afternoon: Lunch with a View We headed to a rooftop restaurant overlooking Lake Pichola for lunch. With traditional Rajasthani cuisine on our plates and the breeze from the lake, it was a perfect midday break. Evening: Boat Ride on Lake Pichola As the sun began to dip, we took a boat ride on Lake Pichola, passing by the beautiful Jag Mandir and the famous Lake Palace. The golden hour made everything glow — the city seemed almost surreal. Night: Sunset at Ambrai Ghat & Dinner We ended the day at Ambrai Ghat, soaking in the sunset with the lit-up City Palace reflecting in the water. Dinner was at a heritage haveli turned restaurant, offering traditional thali and live folk music – a soulful end to our first day in Udaipur.
Day 2 : Jodhpur
Leaving behind the lakes of Udaipur, we hit the road early and headed toward Jodhpur, the vibrant gateway to the Thar Desert. Known as the "Blue City" for its indigo-painted houses, Jodhpur is steeped in history, color, and charm. Morning: Arrival in Jodhpur & Mehrangarh Fort After a scenic drive through the desert landscape, we arrived in Jodhpur and made our way to the majestic Mehrangarh Fort — one of the largest forts in India. Perched on a rocky hill, it towers over the city and offers panoramic views of the blue-washed old town below. Inside, the fort is a treasure trove of palaces, courtyards, and museums showcasing royal artifacts, ornate palanquins, and ancient weaponry. Walking along the ramparts with the desert wind brushing past was nothing short of exhilarating. Afternoon: Jaswant Thada & Lunch A short walk from the fort took us to Jaswant Thada, a serene white marble cenotaph built in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. Surrounded by gardens and small lakes, it offered a peaceful retreat from the city's buzz. For lunch, we headed to a local restaurant and enjoyed a traditional Rajasthani meal — dal baati churma, gatte ki sabzi, and freshly baked bajra roti. Evening: Exploring the Old City & Clock Tower Market As the heat mellowed, we wandered into the bustling lanes of the Old City, where every turn revealed colorful doors, local artisans, and the scent of spices in the air. The Clock Tower and Sardar Market were alive with activity — perfect for picking up souvenirs like handicrafts, spices, and bandhani textiles. Night: Rooftop Dinner with a View We ended our day with a rooftop dinner overlooking the illuminated Mehrangarh Fort, now glowing against the night sky. The flickering lanterns, traditional music, and the silhouette of the fort made it a magical close to our day in Jodhpur.
Day 3 : Bikaner
Our third day took us deeper into the sands of Rajasthan as we journeyed to Bikaner, a lesser-explored gem known for its grand forts, rich history, and mouth-watering snacks. Compared to Udaipur’s lakes and Jodhpur’s blues, Bikaner has its own raw, regal charm — quieter, yet full of character. Morning: Arrival in Bikaner & Junagarh Fort Upon arrival, we made our way to the Junagarh Fort, an architectural marvel that stands proud even though it wasn’t built on a hill (a rarity in Rajasthan!). The fort complex is massive, with intricately carved courtyards, grand halls, and beautiful jharokhas. Each palace inside — like Anup Mahal, Chandra Mahal, and Phool Mahal — tells a story of opulence, with gold leaf work, lacquered walls, and royal artifacts. The fort isn’t just history — it’s art frozen in time. Afternoon: Local Lunch & Camel Research Centre For lunch, we couldn’t miss trying Bikaner’s iconic bhujia and spicy papad ki sabzi with fresh rotis. After a quick rest, we headed to the unique National Research Centre on Camel, just outside the city. It was surprisingly fun and informative — we learned about different camel breeds, their roles in desert life, and even tried camel milk kulfi (surprisingly tasty!). Watching camels at sunset, with the desert breeze and golden light, felt like stepping into another world. Evening: Bhandasar Jain Temple & Local Markets As evening set in, we visited the serene Bhandasar Jain Temple, known for its stunning frescoes and intricate mirror work. Built with a mix of ghee and limestone (yes, really!), it's one of the most artistically rich temples in the region. Before heading back, we explored Bikaner’s local markets — a paradise for foodies and craft lovers. We stocked up on snacks, handicrafts, and some beautifully embroidered Rajasthani fabrics. Night: Heritage Stay & Rajasthani Dinner We checked into a heritage haveli-turned-hotel and enjoyed a quiet evening under the stars. The dinner featured traditional dishes, folk music, and a cozy courtyard setup — the perfect end to a day of royal discoveries.
Day 4 : Jaisalmer
From the rich hues of Bikaner, we ventured further west into the heart of the Thar Desert to Jaisalmer, famously known as the “Golden City.” The sun-kissed sandstone buildings and the vast desert landscapes create a mesmerizing blend of history and adventure. Morning: Arrival & Jaisalmer Fort We arrived in Jaisalmer as the desert sun cast a golden glow over the city’s iconic Jaisalmer Fort — one of the few living forts in the world, where people still live and work within its walls. Walking through the narrow lanes inside the fort felt like stepping back centuries, surrounded by intricately carved havelis and bustling bazaars. Afternoon: Havelis & Local Cuisine Exploring the exquisite Patwon Ki Haveli and Nathmal Ki Haveli was a highlight — their detailed stonework and elaborate balconies showcase the craftsmanship of a bygone era. For lunch, we savored local delicacies like ker sangri and dal bati churma in a cozy rooftop café overlooking the fort. Evening: Sam Sand Dunes Safari As the day cooled, it was time for the quintessential Jaisalmer experience — a desert safari at the Sam Sand Dunes. We rode camels over rolling golden dunes, witnessing a breathtaking sunset that painted the sky in shades of orange and pink.
Day 5 : Pushkar
Leaving behind the desert landscapes of Jaisalmer, we traveled east to the charming town of Pushkar, known as one of India’s holiest and most colorful pilgrimage destinations. Nestled around the sacred Pushkar Lake, this town offers a unique blend of spirituality, culture, and vibrant markets. Morning: Arrival & Brahma Temple Our first stop was the rare and revered Brahma Temple, dedicated to Lord Brahma — one of the few temples of its kind in India. The temple’s peaceful atmosphere and intricate carvings set a serene tone for the day. Midday: Ghats of Pushkar Lake We spent time wandering along the ghats of Pushkar Lake, watching pilgrims perform rituals and locals offer prayers. The ghats are dotted with small shrines, and the reflections in the water create a beautiful, tranquil scene. It’s the perfect place to pause, meditate, or simply soak in the spiritual vibes.
